Do not use if you have been diagnosed with the following:

  • Diabetic ketoacidosis

  • Type 1 diabetes

  • Diabetic retinopathy

  • Kidney disease

  • Multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)

  • Thyroid cancer

  • Pancreatitis

Some side effects may occur that do not require medical attention, as they may lessen as your body adjusts to the medication. You may experience more gastrointestinal (GI) side effects when you increase your dose, however it should be less over time. Reach out to your healthcare provider if you experience any unwanted side effects as there may be ways to prevent or reduce side effects. Pancreatitis:
Discontinue Ozempic® immediately if pancreatitis is suspected or if you experience severe abdominal pain requiring urgent medical attention. Do not restart if pancreatitis is confirmed.

Diabetic Retinopathy:
Ozempic® has been linked to worsening diabetic retinopathy in some patients. If you have diabetes, ensure you are up to date on your diabetic eye exams and discuss monitoring strategies with your healthcare provider.

Medication Safety:

  • Do not share an Ozempic® pen between patients, even if the needle is changed.

  • Hypoglycemia Risk: Using Ozempic® with certain diabetes medications (insulin secretagogues like glipizide, glyburide, Prandin, or Starlix) may increase the risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Discuss medication adjustments with your doctor.

Kidney Injury & Dehydration:
Severe diarrhea or vomiting can lead to dehydration and kidney injury. If you experience significant gastrointestinal side effects, stop taking Ozempic® and contact your medical provider.

Allergic Reactions:
Seek immediate medical attention and discontinue Ozempic® if you experience signs of a serious allergic reaction, including:
✔ Shortness of breath
✔ Rash or severe itching
✔ Swelling of the mouth, lips, or throat
